Eusuf, Senior Fellow, BCAS Project Description: Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies has undertaken a project on “Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Development Project (REREDP)” in three PBS areas (Barisal-1, Sunamgonj and Cox’s Bazar PBSs). The major objectives of this project are: a) Selection of site, consumer survey, awareness campaign, demonstration, motivation, customer/membership drive, assisting PBSs in signing contact with the consumers. b) Training of REB / PBS Personnel, PBS Board Directors, PBS technicians and customers. c) Preparation of construction standard procedures & practices for installation of SHSs. d) Preparation of technical training manuals & development of operational and maintenance manuals. e) Fixing tariff, terms & conditions for SHS consumers, penalization procedure for default consumers & preparation of application form for SHS customer, etc. f) Supervision of installation, closeout of installation work & post-installation monitoring of installed SHSs. g) Review & reporting of the project activities including accomplishment of work, methods of work used, findings and recommendations regarding problems or issues affecting the overall project, and its success and sustainability.
