Objectives :

The broad objective included:

  • to assess the energy use patterns and needs in four selected villages of Kishoreganj district.

  • to assess the availability of natural resources in the selected areas;

  • to develop an energy action plan base on people’s perception and their felt needs.

Methods and Tools: The study used multiple methods for collecting of both quantitative and qualitative data. Baseline survey was conducted to assess resource base and energy needs while PRA tools were applied to identify  people’s perception and priority to develop an action plan.

Results/Output   :The results indicated that scarcity of cooking fuel was the most acute problem in the study villages. There had been a strong need for efficient devices such as improved stoves, biogas plants, solar technology etc. Based on the need, an action plan was developed, which proposed to install/supply improved stoves, solar box, SPV system, briquetting machine and bio-gas electricity generator through community participation.
