Project Description:  

This is a tri-country study investigating the nature and management of conflicts in tropical fisheries. The aim of the project was to establish what conflicts are being experienced by artisonal fishers, why those conflicts emerge and how these are currently managed. The study focused on three water bodies: a permanent Beel in Tangil, a river in Brhamanbaria and a seasonal Beel in Gopalganj. The study also prepared a literature review to develop greater understanding about the nature and extent of conflicts in fisheries of Bangladesh. The review mainly covered gray literature, NGO-report and newspapers, which are not readily available outside Bangladesh

  • Conduct field study (mainly qualitative through PR)

  •  Literature review (gray literature and review of fisheries legislation)

  • Preparing Report with recommendation for better management of fisheries conflict

  • Dissemination of findings through workshop
