Prepared by: The Department of Environment (DoE), Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Government of Bangladesh (GoB), in association with Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS) as national collaborating centre with financial support from United Nations Environment Programme Regional Resource Centre for Asia and the Pacific (UNEP RRC.AP).  

The key objective of the report is to facilitate informed and efficient decision making to support sustainable development and provide capacity building training on integrated environmental assessment using specially developed training tools and methodologies. The state of environment report 2005 explained key environmental concern, issues and challenges of Dhaka City. It has also prioritized and analyzed nine key environmental issues in greater details with recommendation to improve environmental quality of the Dhaka City. The entire preparation process was interactive and participatory where different stakeholders provided their inputs from inception to finalization.
