Global Environmental Outlook 3, tracking and analyzing important environmental issues over the period 1972-2002, provides an integrated explanation of major trends that have shaped our environmental inheritance. Continuing the global and regional focus of previous GEO reports, GEO-3 presents the 30-year retrospective analysis of environmental conditions and trends and associated policy responses under themes of land, forests, biodiversity, coastal and marine areas, atmosphere, urban areas, and disasters. A special focus on human vulnerability to environmental change highlights the increasing risks and impacts on people. The outlook section of the report, spanning the next 30 years, is presented through scenarios.
