This booklet was based on the proceedings of a two-day international workshop on Policy Issues for Sustainable Shrimp Farming in Asia under PORESSFA (Policy Research on Sustainable Shrimp Farming in Asia ) project. The workshop was held at the BRAC Centre, Dhaka during 13-14th December 2004. The workshop focused on six issues: (a) production competitiveness of shrimp; (b) market promotion and backward-forward linkages in shrimp industry; (c) social transformation induced by shrimp; (d) industry governance- role and responsibilities of the stakeholders; (e) collective actions for sustainable coastal ecosystem and shrimp farming; and (f) promotion of stakeholders participation in shrimp faring by securing rights.
