Main Objective:   a) To review the country experiences with technologies connected with Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Greenhouse Gas Abatement (REGA), b) to prepare pre-feasibility report on 7 projects, c) to prepare bankable standard projects d) to prepare the CDM-PDD on 2 projects. e) to prepare a report on policies and strategies for developing and promotion of REGA technologies, f) to conduct 2 Stakeholders’ Meetings g to organize 4 CDM awareness building workshops and 1 CDM-PDD writing.
Brief Description: Processes (activities, project sites etc.): A total of seven study reports on different issues were prepared and two meetings were organized with the stakeholders during the first phase of the project. On the other hand, eight reports were prepared and 5 workshops including the national one were organized during the second phase of the project. Methodological approach: Baseline survey, literature review, stakeholder meeting, workshops, monitoring, follow ups, sampling, interviews.

Pre-feasibility study for fuel switching from oil to gas for power generation in small industries. 5. Pre-feasibility study on solar-wind-diesel hybrid for power generation in small towns and villages. 6. Policies and strategies for developing and promoting REGA technologies. 7. Consolidated report on PREGA. 8.Quality and quantity assessment of Khulna City solid waste for electricity generation. 9. Pre-feasibility study on Khulna city solid waste to electric energy. 10. Pre-feasibility study on widespread use of efficient stoves. 11. Pre-feasibility study on popularization of biogas plants. 12. Feasibility study (Bankable Standard) of Khulna city solid waste for electricity generation. 13. Feasibility study (Bankable Standard) for co-generation in sugar industries. 14. CDM Project Design Document (PDD) for Joypurhat biogas cogeneration project. 15. CDM Project Design Document (PDD) for Khulna city solid waste to electricity generation. Workshops: 1. National Workshop for REGA and CDM Awareness Building and Motivation under the ADB-PREGA Project, Dhaka (1-2 June, 2005). 2. National Workshop for REGA and CDM Awareness Building and Motivation under the ADB-PREGA Project, Chittagong (18-19 June, 2005). 3. National Workshop for REGA and CDM Awareness Building and Motivation under the ADB-PREGA Project, Khulna (3-4 July, 2005). 4. National Workshop for REGA and CDM Awareness Building and Motivation under the ADB-PREGA Project, Rajshahi (27-28 July, 2005). 5. ADB-Sponsored National Workshop on Report writing and Financial/Economic Analysis of CDM-able Project including CDM Modalities, Procedures and PDD Evaluation, Dhaka (4-6 February, 2006). Meetings: 1. Stakeholders’ Meeting on PREGA Project (11 February, 2004). 2. Stakeholders’ Meeting on PREGA Project (26 July, 2004). Lessons learnt by the implementing organisation/s: The project accomplished its activities in two phases. It experimented with the sources of renewable energy from solid waste, sugar mills and other sources and highlighted the findings in study reports mentioned above. Study findings were also shared and disseminated to the concerned stakeholders and policy makers through meetings and workshops at local and national level.
