Main Objective:   To organize a workshop in order to disseminate and discuss the results of the outcome of the Regional TA on 5542-REG on developing environmental quality indices, and to discuss the possibility of a national level modification of the methodology.
Brief Description: The workshop followed participatory principles and the participants reflected wide sectoral and regional representations. About 37 experts from East Asia, Southeast Asia in addition to South Asia participated in the workshop.
Output The workshop concluded that the methodology prepared and developed by the ADB and Harvard team was promising and it needed inter-country comparison on broad base level. The participants strongly suggested developing a country-specific application of the methodology to allow a continuous monitoring of the environmental quality of Bangladesh. The workshop played a key role in developing indices to measuring environmental quality of Bangladesh as part of the action plan for environmental management at national level.
