Main Objective:   To create basic digital spatial data at national and regional levels. To develop pilot scale databases at the local level. To explore and develop GIS methods for data presentation and analysis to be used by analysts, managers and decision makers for addressing arsenic problem in Bangladesh.
Brief Description: In addition to the database development, the study explored and developed GIS methods for data presentation and analysis to be used by analyst, managers and decision makers for addressing arsenic problem in Bangladesh. Finally, this study recommends long-term data management ideas for use of this database and analytical tools for arsenic monitoring and mitigation.
Output Supplementing the spatial data, arsenic concentrations for sample wells, which were derived from the Department of public Health Engineering (DPHE) and Rural Electrification Board (REB) were also created using mouza database and DGPS. Database was constructed at national, regional, and local levels at a range of scales and included themes on geology, physiography, surface hydrology, groundwater and demographics.
